Quality Measurement Calculation & Reporting

Description: Calculate dental quality measure scores for Medicaid and CHIP beneficiaries, using Transformed Medicaid Statistical Information System Analytic Files from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to populate an interactive oral healthcare quality dashboard (DUA RSCH-2020-55639).

How we helped:

Programmed and calculated all quality measure scores represented in the dashboard.
Stratified measure scores by population characteristics, including age, race and ethnicity, geographic location, sex, and primary language.
Conducted user acceptance testing (UAT) of dashboard reports.
Developed and delivered national presentations to demonstrate the dashboard features and applications.

Quality Measurement Testing & Implementation Assistance

Description: Provide technical assistance to measure developers on methodological issues related to healthcare quality measurement and implementation guidance.

How we helped:

Assisted in developing measure specification logic.
Provided expertise on methods for testing measure feasibility, reliability and validity.
Conducted feasibility, reliability, and validity testing for claims-based measures and electronic health record measures.
Assisted with ongoing measure maintenance activities, including additional measure testing.
Contributed to developing implementation User Guides and providing technical assistance to measure implementers.
Prepared presentations, reports, and manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication.

Project Purpose: Develop a nationally accepted patient-centered dental home (PCDH) model that is measurable and can be applied to many dental care delivery settings.

How we helped:

Conducted user acceptance testing (UAT) of surveys.
Assisted with quantitative and qualitative analyses of survey results.
Contributed to environmental scan to identify existing oral health quality measures and measure concepts.

Developing a Caries Risk Registry for Children

Project Purpose: Develop and implement a registry to support caries risk assessment, caries prevention, and disease management quality improvement initiatives for children.

How we helped:

Documented quality improvement processes
Contributed to the development of an online questionnaire used to assess provider experiences during pilot testing of the registry.
Provided feedback on metrics for provider performance dashboards.
Analyzed registry data to evaluate effects of quality improvement efforts.
